Practically Chinese
It started out as a normal Saturday morning. As usual, we ate breakfast and got ready for the day. We all knew we were going to Quanzhou but we were not prepared for what we were about to see. Eric Sy, XCE06 Participant

It has now been four weeks since we took off for Xiamen, China and it seems that a year has already passed. By now, we have adjusted to the environment of Xiamen University and we’re now treating it as our home away from home. So what’s up with us? Chris Kevin Ong and the Verbiest Team, XCE06 Participants

Never Knew That
Living and studying in another country makes a person want to discover new things, perhaps during his studies, or while living as a stranger in a foreign land. In this 3rd week of the XCE, I am that person. I wanted to discover new things in my studies and my life as a foreign student. Douglas Seetekbeng, XCE06 Participant
Never Knew That
Learning more and more about myself as being part Chinese has changed my view of myself. I have learned a lot about China, the Chinese people, and their history. I also learned that the Chinese people were the first people to interact with our Filipino ancestors and that some people say that we were once related to the Chinese people somehow during the Ice Age. Eduardo Luy, XCE06 Participant
Never Knew That
I have already been living in the Xavier China Experience for about three weeks, and anyone could have guessed that I have learned many interesting things about China. One thing that I learned was that China and the Philippines could were actually connected thousands of years ago by something called a “land bridge”. Jasper Tan, XCE06 Participant
Never Knew That
Surprisingly, the most interesting lessons I’ve had were in Chinese history. All my life I’ve believed that history was boring and very hard but my teachers banished this idea. Some examples of what I’ve found to be new and interesting were my lessons about China’s four great inventions, the lesson about regarding the dynasties and many others. Living Away From Home
When I was home, I felt safe and sound. In camp, there was always an "Abort” button; in the retreat, I could have gone home, but now, I can't turn back. I have no "Abort" button now, I can't go home anytime I want to, and I have no family here with me. Nicholas Tan, XCE06 Participant
Living Away From Home
In the begninning, all things are difficult. I have been fighting a battle, with myself. My feellings have started to burst out, escape, beyond my control. As the battle rages on, I think. Who began it and how to end it for good. This is my story, about my struggle to overcome the hurdle of living away from home. Douglas Seetekbeng, XCE06 Participant
